Persuasive/Argumentative prompts: (the same list I showed in class)

Money invested in space travel would be better spent helping the poor/needy
Experimentation on animals in laboratories is cruel
Genetic engineering is nothing but a violation of the laws of nature
Animals should not be kept in captivity
Too much knowledge is a dangerous thing
The internet is making face-to-face communication obsolete
There should be a speed limit of 50kph on all roads
English is a very easy language to master
Women are worse drivers than men
Prostitution should be legalized
Military service should be compulsory for everybody when they are 18 years old
Taxes are too high
Health care should be free for all people
Public transportation should be free
Smoking should not be allowed in public places
Women should take care of children because they are better at this job

- Choose a side and use the format to organize your thoughts (agree or disagree and support why you agree or disagree)
- You can see the other file for an example 5-paragraph essay if you are unsure of what it should look like.
- The essay should be a full page or nearly a full page, although longer is also fine.
- Try to use linking expressions (when necessary, about every second sentence)

If you don't like any of these you can write about whatever you like (as long as it is in the style of an argument for or against something)
